Rock (Formation) Compressibility

Introduction

The compressibility of formation is a measure of the rate of change of pore volume with the change of reservoir pressure. As oil and gas are produced, reservoir pressure declines resulting in the reduction of bulk as well as pore volume of rock due to the enormous pressure exerted by overlying geologic rock.
