Fluid Filled Porosity

Introduction

The porosity of the subsurface, can be filled with with any single or multiphase combination, from pure water to potentially pure hydrogen and is related to the concepts of saturation. For additional reading on bulk fluid types in the subsurface, refer to Types of Reservoir Fluids

A simple illustration is shown below, where:

Water = Blue Fluid

Oil = Green Fluid

Red = Gas Fluid
