Introduction
In Monte-Carlo simulation such as Coal Seam Gas (CSG), there are parameters which have a physical dependence such as Initial Pressure, Initial Water Saturation, and Desorption Pressure. For instance:
-
Initial water saturation must be 100% if desorption pressure is less than Initial Reservoir Pressure
-
Desorption pressure cannot be larger than Initial Reservoir Pressure .
Depending on how distributions are setup, it is possible for these parameters to have overlap as shown below. In this example, the assigned standard deviation for desorption pressure and Initial Reservoir Pressure allow potential overlap such as Desorption Pressure > Initial Pressure leading to erroneous calculations. And of course, initial water saturation in the coal cleats must be 100% if Desorption Pressure < Initial Pressure.
