Introduction

The figures below show examples of cleats from the Sydney basin. The image is from the Bulli coal of the Sydney Basin, Australia.

The Sydney Basin of Australia is considered a sister basin to the Gunnedah and Bowen basins. The more economically attractive seams occur in the Illawarra coal measures. Coals are known to be thick and have high, but variable gas contents.
