Field Examples: Composite Model Non-Unique Interpretation

Introduction

In the examples below, we can see two interpretations of data:

Indonesian Field Example #1:

In this example, it was demonstrated that either a radial composite, a pure linear boundary, or even possibly a linear composite model would reproduce the raw data.

Indonesian Field Example #2:

In this field example, we show how two models may produce similar results.

  • The composite model assumes a decrease in permeability or permeability-thickness by a factor of 5,  The loss starts to occur at a distance of about 300 ft.  

  • The boundary model assumes the first boundary is see at approximately 300 ft, followed by a the second boundary at 900.  This could be interpreted as 1,200 ft wide channel

  • Both models give a kh value of 2534 md.ft, or a permeability of about 45 – 50 md.
