Field Example: Mahalo Gas Hub

Introduction

According to Comet Ridge (2023), the project located in the Denison Trough of the Bowen Basin, has shallow depths of 180 - 400 meters. Below is a general map of the Mahalo Gas Project.

The preferred well design are laterals for enhanced productivity. An example in-seam well is shown below. In this example, the vertical intercept well, Mahalo North 1 (314 m total Depth), is the primary production well intersecting 9 m of coal.

Comet Ridge (2023, 2022)

Below is the schematic of the pilot production laterals drilled in the Mahalo Gas hub, along the high productivity fairway. These are in-seam well completions, with primary production form Mahalo 6, Mira 2, and Mahalo North 1.

As a note, Comet Ridge stated that reservoir gas was almost pure methane with less than 2% CO2 (sales gas specification)
